More cases of COVID-19 at UHNBC

PRINCE GEORGE — Northern Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at UHNBC, this following the declaration of a precautionary outbreak yesterday.

“As of Dec.31, seven staff and six patients have tested positive for COVID-19,” reads a news release.

The outbreak occurred in the Internal Medicine Unit at the hospital. When the precautionary outbreak was declared yesterday, two patients and four staff had been diagnosed with the virus.

Northern Health says its actively monitoring for additional cases, and says enhanced outbreak precautions continue to be taken.

“The change in outbreak status means the timeline for declaring the outbreak over will be extended; outbreak measures will remain in place until there have been no further exposure concerns for a period of 28 days,” says the health authority.
