PG jobless numbers buck the trend

PRINCE GEORGE – According to Statistics Canada, the economy lost 63,000 jobs in December in the first monthly decline since April, amid tightened public health restrictions to slow a resurgence in the pandemic.

The national unemployment rate was 8.6 per cent for the month, up from 8.5 per cent in November.

BC also saw a slight uptick in jobless numbers to 7.2 percent in December from 7.1 in November.
