WILLIAMS LAKE — BC Emergency Health Services has deployed a rapid response team to Williams Lake.

It says the deployment is to help support the community and local paramedics.

The team was sent on Jan.16.

  • Team includes: 1 Critical Care Paramedic, 1 Primary Care Paramedic (from Vancouver)
  • Paramedic crew flown to the community Saturday, using our dedicated air resources.
  • The first crew is active in the community until end of shift Jan.18 (tonight), a second, replacement crew starts tomorrow, Jan.19, and is deployed until end of shift Jan.21 (Thursday).

“The rural community of about 10,000 is currently experiencing high levels of COVID-19 positive patients,” says spokesperson Shannon Miller. “We are working closely with Interior Health to be called upon, as needed for support at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.”

The six-day deployment is the second time this specialized team has responded to a community experiencing a higher level of COVID-19 cases.

The first deployment was to Fort St. James in December.
