Little Prince needs to be back on track
There is one glaring omission to this year’s capital plan. A project that was set to go last year, but got bumped because of the COVID pandemic is not mentioned in any fashion in the 2021 budget.
And that project is a new home for the Little Prince train. It is the only 24-gauge, wood-fired steam engine in North America. But the Quonset hut it calls “home” all winter is inadequate in that it leaks and floods every spring.
“There’s lots of opportunities for funding and I know Exploration Place has been really diligent about pursuing [funding],” says Garth Frizzell, who noticed the omission on this year’s capital budget. “But now we have to find a place for it. We have to find a spot where we can get it funding and make sure this thing gets built.”
