PRINCE GEORGE – The lacrosse community in Prince George and in Northern BC is mourning the loss of one of the builders for the sport in our region.

Glen ‘Moose’ Scott was not only a builder but also a visionary and someone who helped shape the PG Senior C Lacrosse League into what it is today.

‘Moose’ brought countless lacrosse events to the city, including helping bring the National Lacrosse League and the Vancouver Stealth to town in the mid-2000s.

But that far from sums up what the man did for the Prince George Community, a big man who did big work for other things in the city.

It was a nickname Glen Scott earned according to those involved in the Lacrosse world.

“I’ve read articles from over the years in the 1970’s, and he didn’t run around people, he ran through them,” says Don Wittmeier.

Wittmeier has been a part of the lacrosse scene in the city for quite some time and over the years one of the things Moose has become known for has been selling things.

“He could sell anything to anyone, no questions asked, he always got the job done,” says Wittmeier.

Whether it’s been selling raffle tickets or selling events, getting sponsorships, ‘Moose’ did it all according to those who knew him.

Scott was also heavily involved in the Carney Street Lacrosse Box, a facility he was working on right up until he passed away.

Now his son Chris plans to continue his dad’s work and has already started working with the city to forge plans to revitalize the facility.

Glen ‘Moose’ Scott was 75 years old and passed away on Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer.
