41 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region

VANCOUVER— Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 395 cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia today, 41 in the Northern Health region.

That brings the total number of cases in B.C. since the pandemic began to 78,673, 72,781 of which have recovered.

There are 4,489 active cases of the virus, 228 people are hospitalized, 62 of whom are in critical or intensive care.

Sadly, 10 new deaths bringing B.C.’s death toll to 1,348.

To date, 239,833 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine, 68,157 of which are second doses.

Henry also announced 116 cases of the COVID-19 variant have been detected in B.C. (95 from the UK, 21 from South Africa), none in Northern B.C. She says just nine of the cases are active at the moment.
