Missing skier found deceased near Valemount

VALEMOUNT — The skier who went missing following an avalanche near Valemount on Tuesday afternoon has been found dead.

As CKPG reported yesterday, the 35-year-old man from Fernie went missing while out skiing the backcountry with two others.

RCMP say the class 3.5 avalanche occurred in the Swift Creek valley just north of Valemount, at 2:55pm on Tuesday. He was discovered by Robson Valley Search and Rescue.

The two survivors are not injured. The BC Coroner Service has taken over the investigation.
