PRINCE GEORGE – Community Futures Fraser-Fort George, the College of New Caledonia and the University of Northern British Columbia are joining forces to help non-profits in the region.

The Working2Learn: Non-Profits program will bring five non-profit organizations into a pilot project that is building a curriculum and process to support students enter the workforce. There are more than 100 non-profit organizations in the Fraser Fort-George Regional District. Through the Working2Learn: Non-Profits Project, five non-profit organizations in the regional district will be paired with students from the College of New Caledonia or UNBC to complete applied research projects.

To be eligible, the non-profit must answer three questions: First, is the issue one that either CNC or UNBC students can address, second, how committed is the non-profit to student learning training and, third, will this research be valuable to the community?

Non-profits are often the heart of a community, but they often have neither the time nor the means to do research that may be relevant to the community. As for UNBC and CNC, it gives students the opportunity to cut their teeth in their chosen profession.

The projects will run from September to December 2021. Each non-profit organization will be awarded $5,000 for participation. Students and non-profit organizations will have access to learning modules, faculty guidance and professional coaching to ensure great learning happens.

Non-profit organizations in the Fraser-Fort George are encouraged to apply to the Working2Learn Project before April 13 @ https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Apply-W2L.
