Passenger numbers down at YXS though there’s optimism going forward

Apr 14, 2021 | 10:39 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — Passenger numbers were down the first quarter of this year at the Prince George Airport.

YXS says they were down 78 per cent though there does seem to be some light at the end of the tunnel.

Central Mountain Air has started an expanded route, Flair Airlines has announced a return for this summer and WesJet recently announced a new route from YXS to the Abbotsford Airport starting in June.

In addition to that, the Prince George Airport Authority received $720,000 in funding from the provincial government. This funding will go towards helping maintain air terminals, runways and other operations for the movement of goods and people.
