SD57 Educator honoured for work with UNBC

May 4, 2021 | 3:52 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – A local educator has been honoured for her work with UNBC’s Education programs.

Debbie Kaban’s work helping renew the education programs at the university is what led to the recognition from the Association of BC Deans of Education (ABCDE), receiving one of three 2021 Teacher Educator Awards.

The Teacher Educator Award is given to someone at the school or university level who has distinguished themselves in partnering with a teacher education program in B.C.

Since Kaban got involved with the programs at UNBC, they have been transformed and practicums have been tweaked to provide better training for new educators.

School District 57 Acting Superintendent Cindy Heitman says the district is honoured to have Kaban on their staff, part of their organization, and most of all part of schools and students.
