WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A Williams Lake man is being treated after an early morning stabbing in the city.

RCMP say officers were called about the incident at about 3:02 a.m. Wednesday (May 12). A 52-year-old man was taken to hospital with “injuries consistent with a stab wound.”

The man is in stable condition.

In a news release, RCMP say it’s believed the man was assaulted at his home. Officers went to the home to ensure there were no other victims and to examine the scene. Once there, they found a gun that was not properly stored.

“Investigators will seek a search warrant for the residence in relation to any further weapons. This is the third search warrant in five days that is related to firearms in Williams Lake,” noted Staff Sgt. Del Byron, the acting Officer-in-Charge of the Williams Lake detachment.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Williams Lake RCMP at (250) 392-6211 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
