Wedding vendors urge couples to book now

PRINCE GEORGE – According to BC’s Restart plan, released Tuesday, large gatherings could be a possibility in a few months.

That is good news for soon-to-be-married couples and the wedding industry as the new plan could mean weddings as normal. But the crunch is on, as wedding vendors are booking up fast.

Manager of the White Willow Bridal Boutique, Alisha Heffernan says “we recommend that you book sooner rather than later. If you can get an appointment between September and November it’s better to air on the side of caution.”

Owner and Creative Director of the White Willow Bridal Boutique, Emily Parsons, added that if you are going to get married in the next six months try choosing a weekday.

“That will open up a lot more vendors to you. A lot of people are booking Saturdays and Sundays and even into Mondays but if you could choose a Wednesday you will have far better access to vendors.”

The pandemic has been a roller-coaster for those waiting to tie the knot but Parsons asks couples to still be patient with their vendors.

“The wedding industry has had a huge hit. Just a suggestion for people when you are reaching out to vendors, just be extra kind and loving and grateful that they are still here to serve you. It will keep a real harmonious relationship between brides and their vendors.”

The plan includes four parts stretching until September. The final part includes personal and organized events as well as, Canada-wide recreational travel and relaxed mask mandates.

70 percent of the 18 plus population needs to be vaccinated with their first dose along with low case counts and low COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The earliest BC can move into the final step is September seventh however, the exact date is still tentative and can still change.
