PRINCE GEORGE – After his removal from being the Chair of UNBC’s Board of Governors, Aaron Ekman has responded to allegations of racism and antisemitism.

Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training, Anne Kang made it official on Friday saying she was removing Ekman from his position.

A Ministry spokesperson says the comments which lead to his removal were made online, but would not specify if it was one comment specifically.

Ekman’s twitter is filled with criticism directed at the BC NDP party, a factor which he admitted may have gotten him to this point.

He alleged the removal was a political action, not due to his own actions on social media, a ministry spokesperson quickly confirmed that was not the case.

Ekman believes it was this tweet however which landed him in hot water, although he says he is surprised he wasn’t removed as Chair sooner.

Ekman did apologize to UNBC and their students for all the controversy surrounding his departure as Chair.

A defamation lawsuit was something Ekman says he would not pursue because taxpayers would be paying for it.
