Active cases of COVID-19 have dropped to 1,910, with 176 people hospitalized, 49 of whom are in critical or intensive care.

Sadly four more people have died, bringing B.C.’s death toll to 1,729.

As for vaccinations, Henry said 74.9 per cent of adults 18 and older and 72.8 per cent of people aged 12 and older have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

A total of 3,823,103 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, 443,562 of which are second doses.

Henry also said that invites for a second dose of vaccine will be sent out eight weeks after the first dose was administered.

“It is important to note that invitations to book a second dose will only be sent after eight weeks,” she said.

“At this point, given the strong demand, appointments are being booked in most locations two to three weeks later. This interval is well within the safe range for everyone and data shows it may lead to a stronger and longer-lasting immune response.”
