Big Strides: Cariboo Hockey holds major ID camp for first time since pandemic began

PRINCE GEORGE – Cariboo Hockey hosts male and female, bantam and midget, major id camp, to recruit for upcoming season.

This was the first time in well over a year that Cariboo Hockey was able to hold one of these camps.

What made it that much more special was that, thanks to the beginning of Step 3 in BC’s Restart Plan, which began July 1, parents were able to sit and watch their kids play hockey for the first time in quite a while.

“It means a lot,” says Kristopher Joyce, Goalie Coach for Cariboo Hockey. “It’s been a long 18 months and I think it’s just a big opportunity for a lot of these kids to show how far they’ve come, with all the skill development they did throughout the winter. It’s obviously big, a little bit of normalcy and I think everybody’s just happy to be back in the rink.”

“Well a lot of excitement right now with all the athletes and the parents, obviously being allowed to watch as well, says Trevor Sprague, General Manager of Cariboo Hockey. I think for the most part with all your kids and your athletes [they] wanna see [their] parents there cause that’s their biggest fan for the most part. A lot of excitement to be in there and get back to normal a little bit.”
