PRINCE GEORGE – Playing in front of Canadian University recruiters, as well as NCAA scouts via the event’s live stream, the U18 Prince George Kodiaks put their best forward.

Playing at the inaugural Western Canadian 7-on-7 Championship in Calgary, Alberta over the weekend, finishing 2nd place in a close 24-21 final game. The tournament was held at Hellard Field.

Along with the U18 team, the Kodiaks Football Club also sent two U16 teams to the no-tackle tournament.

The game of 7-on-7 football has been growing over the years, with star players like Canadian and current Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Chase Claypool using the game to further their development.

The event was put on by two-time Gey Cup Champion Keon Raymond, who was announced as the new Director of Football Operations for the Kodiaks last month.

The Kodiaks are one of the founding members of the 7-on-7 Association of Canada.

Raymond is expected to be in attendance on Friday, July 9 at Masich Place Stadium for what Club President Craig Briere has stated will be the “biggest announcement in the history of football in Northern B.C.”
