PRINCE GEORGE–Summerfest is finally back in Prince George with some slight modifications. Even with the wet weather on Saturday, thousands of people came out throughout the day.

It was the first weekend for Summerfest and the theme was patios downtown.

“It’s just exciting to see people together again. We’ve had thousands of people throughout the day today and they keep coming, despite the weather, despite the sun, the rain, whatever. People are ready to gather again safely.” said Kyle Sampson, Manager of Northern BC Pacific West Brewery.

Live music, arts and crafts, and vendors were just some of the activities you could find downtown. But the best part of it all was the large crowd.

“The best part about this summerfest is the smiles, the fact that I can see your face and see your smile is the best part of this entire weekend. If you’re not down here, you’re missing out on the best party ever.” said Keith Jantz, Owner of Torque BBQ Sauce

Each weekend at Summerfest will be a different theme. Some of the upcoming themes include a bring your dogs weekend and a ride your bike weekend.

People also have the chance to win $500 in prizes.

There are different activites that will suit everyone at Summerfest.

“I don’t know, I’d say all the food, the fruit, the fresh fruit is really nice. All the little farmer’s market booths, it’s really nice just to have something that feels like summer again.” said Mary.

Events run every Saturday this month. 3rd Avenue between Dominion Street and Quebec street will be limited to foot traffic only.
