PRINCE GEORGE – “It’ feels more like an airport now.”

Those are the words from Gordon Duke, President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority, describing the hustle and bustle in both the arrivals and departures areas of the airport.

YVX saw the passenger numbers jump from 7,427 in April to 12,870 last month. That is the highest number since March of 2020 when the pandemic started to impact travel.

“We are so happy to see air service and passenger numbers increasing,” says Duke. “We are looking forward to this trend continuing as COVID restrictions decrease, allowing for more recreational travel.”

Throughout the pandemic, the Prince George airport held its own with the resource sector putting it in a better place than many others.

Now recreational travel is beginning to pick up. However, he says there is still work to be done.
