PRINCE GEORGE–The Prince George Hospice Society has finally opened up its dream home to the public. Now all it needs is a lucky homeowner.

“We’re so excited to finally open because we have people asking ‘when can we come see the house? when can we come see the house?’ We opened our online sales. For us to finally show the community what Nechako North Homes have built for us, and what other sponsors did and create for us–yeah we’re beyond to show everyone what’s behind those doors.” said Sandra Klimm, Fund Development, Prince George Hospice Society.

The more than $800,000 home is over 3,400 square feet. For the first time ever, the home comes with $30,000 worth of furniture. The five bedroom home also comes with a flat roof that’s engineered for wintertime. Dozens of people came out Saturday morning to get the first look inside.

“It’s interesting because we were outside just a few minutes ago, talked to the fella across the street who I think was the 2019 dream home lottery winner and he’s still in the neighborhood. I go ‘wouldn’t that be fantastic, somebody wins a home, particularly this one,’ this is a magnificent home.” said Mayor Lyn Hall.

The dream home is part of the Hospice society’s lottery. 11,999 tickets are available for $100 each. The society is also hosting two 50/50 raffle draws of up to $150,000 each, and with over 1,700 tickets sold, there’s excitement going around.

“I think it’s sort’ve built into our DNA in Prince George because whenever you have a Prince George Hospice Dream Home lottery take place, people mark it on their calendar and here they are, it’s just part of what we do and it’s a great fundraiser for hospice.” said Hall.

Each ticket purchased for the home also automatically qualifies for the four early bird draw–the first one being on Wednesday. The grand prize draw takes place in December.

“Well, the draw is December 17th and once that winning ticket is pulled, it’s just a matter of a little bit of paperwork. Hopefully they can be in for Christmas.” said Klimm.

There’s already one person who’s feeling pretty lucky.

“The ironic thing about it is that the draw date is on my birthday. So, you know how superstitious some people are, maybe it is the lucky day, who knows we’ll see.” said Hall.
