Evacuation alert lifted for Cutoff Creek fire

PRINCE GEORGE — The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako and the Saik’uz Band Council have rescinded the evacuation alert for the Cutoff Creek wildfire.

It covered the following area: south of the intersection of Kenney Dam Road and Brophy Road, southwest to Knewstubb Lake, and southeast to the 600 FSR, including Saik’uz IR Tatuk Lake 7, Tatuk, and Finger FSR. The order does not include Kenney Dam Road where it runs adjacent to the Nechako River, as shown on the attached map.

The alert was issued on July 20. The change in the weather and fire suppression efforts have combined to make the fire classified as “being held.”

The 21,500 lightning-caused blaze was first discovered on July 2.
