243 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 9 up north

VICTORIA — Another day, another increase in cases of COVID-19 in BC.

The province announced 243 today, including nine up north. And once again, over half of the new cases were detected in the Interior Health region.

There are now 1,231 active cases of the virus, including 28 in northern B.C.

The new/active cases include:

* 56 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 277

* 32 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 160

* 131 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 693

* nine new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 28

* 13 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 65

* two new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: eight

In the last 24 hours, no new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,771.

As for vaccinations, 64.9 per cent of eligible people 12 and older are now fully vaccinated.
