24 active COVID-19 cases at Trans Mountain Expansion project in Valemount area
VALEMOUNT — The number of active cases of COVID-19 at the Trans Mountain Expansion project in Valemount has increased.
Last week, Northern Health reported there were 16 active cases of the virus, but this week that numbers has risen to 24.
“The increase in lab-confirmed cases is not unexpected, in light of increased screening and COVID-19 testing. Case and contact management efforts continue to suggest the majority of infections were not acquired at the site. Public health continues to investigate any potential onsite transmission of illness, and may recommend additional measures to prevent further spread, if necessary,” says Northern Health.
“Northern Health and Trans Mountain are continuing to monitor, and the company has implemented further cluster management measures, including enhanced employee screening, mandatory mask-wearing, and increased sanitization across the site.”
