PRINCE GEORGE– Some events might have to adapt and overcome new health restrictions after Bonnie Henry announced a proof of vaccination starting September 13th as well as mandatory masks in all indoor public spaces.

One of the events upcoming that won’t be affected as much is The Best Damn Music Festival. The festival won’t require mandatory vaccines or force mandatory masks. A big reason why is because the event is being held outdoors and mandatory vaccines don’t kick in until September 13th. However, that doesn’t mean they won’t be taking safety precautions at all.

There will be an on-site vaccine clinic during the festival, as well as many handwashing and hand sanitizer stations. Event Promoter Kyle Sampson says the great thing about this festival is people have choices.

“You can wear a mask if you want, you don’t have to wear a mask. You can social distance or you can bunch up with friends. If you want your vaccine you can get one. We just want the community of Prince George to have a fun time with the community.”

Unfortunately, this doesn’t apply to all upcoming events as Northern FanCon, an annual convention that hosts celebrities and influential people in Film, Books, Animation, Entertainment, will be asking for vaccine proof for people attending the event.

In a statement on both their Facebook and website, they state that they will be complying with all the health mandates that the provincial government has set in place and will be asking for vaccination proof for anyone attending the event on September 24th-26th.

These restrictions lasting until January 31st, 2022, and many indoor and outdoor events were planned around the city over the next couple of months. Organizers will have to adapt and overcome enforcing a vaccine passport and other health restrictions that may be applied as well.
