Spruce Kings fall in West Kelowna 5-3, return to Prince George 1-1

Oct 10, 2021 | 10:11 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings will have to settle for a split weekend to open the 2021-22 British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) season.

After an 8-1 blow out win in Merritt, the Spruce Kings fell to the West Kelowna Warriors on the road 5-3. John Herrington’s second goal of the game shorthanded put PG up early in the second period, but four unanswered goals from the Warriors was too much to overcome. Spruce Kings goaltender Aaron Trotter made 33 saves in the defeat.

The Spruce Kings return to Prince George Friday (Sept. 15) for their home opener at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena; their first of back-to-back home games against the Merritt Centennials.
