Spruce Kings beat Centennials in home opener 6-3
PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings put on a show for the 713 fans in attendance at their home opener at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena on Friday (Oct. 15).
A game against the Merritt Centennials looked to be in the bag with the Spruce Kings holding a 4-1 lead after two periods.
Although the Centennials gave the Spruce Kings a scare with a pair of power play goals to make it 4-3 in the third. But a response by Kolton Cousins 1:25 after the 4-3 goal gave the Spruce Kings a two-goal lead again and put them in cruise control to secure their second win of the young British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) season.
Prince George exits Saturday with a 2-1-0 record in three games, good for four points and puts them in the middle of the pack of the BCHL Interior Division. They host the Centennials again at Rolling Mix Concrete Arena at 7 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 16).
