Cougars drop second in a row to Giants 3-1
PRINCE GEORE — The Prince George Cougars opened the scoring on Friday (Nov. 5) against the Vancouver Giants but couldn’t translate it into a victory.
Riley Heidt’s fourth goal may have been his most beautiful in the 2021-22 Western Hockey League (WHL) season. The 16-year-old center picked off a Giants turnover, passed to Carter MacAdams, and sniped the puck home when he received it back.
From there, Cougars goaltender Tyler Brennan did everything in his power to keep his team but two goals from the Giants in the second period spelled the end before an empty net goal made it a 3-1 loss.
“It certainly was a hard-fought game. When you break it down, I thought we had a good first period. A tough bounce went against us in the second on one of their goals. They then had a push in the third, but we responded and were right there with them. We had a lot of guys going tonight. Disappointed we didn’t come away with a point.” Cougars Associate Coach Josh Dixon stated.
