Children COVID shots anticipated
PRINCE GEORGE – It is anticipated that Health Canada has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine for children between the ages of five to 11 tomorrow.
“This is a version that is designed specifically for children,” explains Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer for BC. “It is a small dose. About 10 milligrams. And that will mean less pain and discomfort with the shot. This is tailored to the immune systems of younger children.”
There are 300,000 children in that age bracket and Dr. Henry assures enough of the vaccine will come to BC.
