HOUSTON, B.C. — RCMP say the enforcement operation to clear obstructions and blockades along some forest services roads near the Coastal GasLink project continued Friday (Nov. 19).

The Morice Forest Service Road remained open to industry traffic, who continued to move supplies and supports to their people in the works camps.

Upon arrival at the two-kilometre mark of the Marten Forest Service Road, RCMP say there were additional blockades, obstructions, a wood pile on fire around a drilling site, and two-building like structures.

Police say officers read the B.C. Supreme Court injunction and encouraged those insides the structures to leave or face arrest. After the protesters opted not to leave, police say arrests were made without incident. A total of 11 individuals were arrested. Police say two of the people inside the structure identified themselves as independent journalists.

Four more individuals were arrested without incident after a group were reportedly throwing rocks at industry vehicles at the 44-kilometre mark along Morice Forest Service Road. One individual who identified themselves as a journalist was not arrested and was escorted out of the area after enforcement ended.

In total, 15 individuals were arrested for Friday for breaching the injunction. Police say they were transported to the Houston Detachment for processing and will be held in custody to appear before the B.C. Supreme Court.

RCMP say the next update will be issued if there are any further or required enforcement actions or arrests.
