Police attend assault at Prince George Court House
PRINCE GEORGE- Police responded to a report of an assault at the Court House on Monday afternoon. Just before 3:00 PM, officers attended the scene after a report of an assault on a peace officer by a contemnor, who was being released after appearing in court earlier that day.
Witnesses claim the assault happened after the woman became agitated and assaulted a Deputy Sheriff. The woman was arrested and appeared in court on November 23. She was released with a future court date.
Investigators submitted a Report to Crown Counsel recommending charges but the BC Prosecution Service declined to approve charges at that time and requested additional information. The investigation remains ongoing
The Prince George RCMP added protests around the detachment and the court house ranging from half a dozen to thirty persons over the weekend in support of contemnors transported to Prince George from the New Hazelton area.
