PRINCE GEORGE- One person was sent to a Vancouver hospital with serious injuries after two people were struck on the Hart Highway on Saturday. Police say the incident occurred between Bellamy Road and Shady Lane.

RCMP say they responded to the incident shortly before 5:00 pm after a southbound vehicle struck a male and female. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the

police. The cause of the incident is still unknown.

Highway 97 was closed in both directions between Bellamy Road and Shady Lane for several hours following the incident.

“This is the second pedestrian involved collision in November on this stretch of highway, our third overall, and we want to remind the public that it is important to use marked cross walks when you are crossing the street. We also recommend carrying a flashlight or wearing reflective clothing when walking during our dark winter hours,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
