PRINCE GEORGE- To celebrate Giving Tuesday, the Prince George Community Foundation is donating $15,000 to six different local charities throughout the day.

“We are awarding (6) $2500 cheques to 6 local charities in our 6 local areas of Giving: Arts & Culture, Sports & Recreation, Health, Social Services, Education and the Environment all throughout the day today (Tuesday),” explained PGCF Director of Development, Mindy Stroet.

So far, the Project Friendship Society is the winner of the Arts & Culture category. Additionally, the Prince George 4-H Association has been chosen as the recipient for the Education category. All of the winners will be announced on the PGCF Facebook page.

PGCF put the names of all local registered charities in a hat and then picked three finalists in each category. Afterwards, community members voted for their favourite organization between November 8-19. The Community Arts Council and Bel Canto Choirs were the other finalists for the Arts category, while Huble Homestead and Central Railway and Forestry Museum were the Education finalists.
