PRINCE GEORGE – Through 22 games, the Northern Capitals have proven to be a scoring powerhouse in the BC Elite Hockey League’s Female U18 Division.

The team sits on top of the standings and have scored the highest number of goals with 76 as they head into the winter break. While the team is performing well and piecing together wins, there are a few players standing out, and one, in particular, is leading the charge.

Last weekend, playing in a three-game series against the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers, Brooklyn Hutchings became the leading scorer in all of BC Elite Hockey, and she did so while crossing off a career milestone.

In the final game of the series, Hutchings pieced together a four-point night with her first-ever hat trick. In the first period of the game, she tallied an assist before scoring three goals back-to-back.

With the performance, the Trinity Western Spartans commit leapt to the top of the overall BCEHL points leaderboard as she now has 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in just 18 games. The list includes both the U18 Female Division and all of the AAA Men’s Divisions.

Hutchings was part of a gold-winning performance by Team BC at the Western Regional U18 Championships, along with fellow Caps teammates Hailey Armstrong and Keagan Goulet.

With a break in their BC U18 schedule, the Capitals will now be heading to the Mandi Schwartz Tournament in Wilcox, Saskatchewan as they will compete against some of Western Canada’s top female teams. That tournament gets underway on December 9th.
