Update: Prince George RCMP locate missing man

PRINCE GEORGE- Update: The Prince George RCMP says that the person reported missing this morning has been located and is safe. They are thanking the local media for their assistance in this matter.

Earlier: Local police are on the lookout for a 61-year-old man who went missing while on a trip to Haida Gwaii to visit a friend.

Julien Fiola was reported missing on Monday, December 6 after family had not heard from him for several days. His last contact with family or friends was on December 3 around 10:00 am. He is originally from Manitoba and stated he was traveling to Haida Gwaii in a white 1999 GMC Jimmy with a Manitoba license plate GNY911 to visit a friend. Police are now asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Mr. Fiola is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 175 cm (5’9)
  • 82 kg (180 lb)
  • Blue eyes
  • White hair
  • Balding
  • Unknown clothing description

“Our investigation so far shows that he was last in Edson, Alberta on December 1. He stated to friends he was in Prince George on December 3, but we have not confirmed if he did make it this far or if he perhaps continued through,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
