Prince George RCMP target impaired driving
PRINCE GEORGE- Local police have started additional impaired driving enforcement measures as part of CounterAttack month. Saturday was National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day in Canada, and PG RCMP officers were on the lookout for impaired drivers.
Members of the PG RCMP Traffic Services team completed the following on Saturday night:
- 17 breath demands with pass results
- 1 violation ticket for no driver’s license
- 1 violation ticket for failing to produce a driver’s license
- 1 Standardized Field Sobriety Test with a pass result
- 2 Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRP) with a fail result
“We had four officers out in a joint operation with B.C. Highway Patrol, targeting impaired drivers throughout the day and into the night on Saturday,” stated Cpl. Jennifer Cooper. “Impaired operation of a motor vehicle can mean impaired by alcohol, cannabis or illicit drugs. It can even apply to prescription or over-the-counter drugs, if they affect your ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.”
