Thieves are on the hunt for catalytic converters

PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George RCMP is asking residents to be more vigilant as they see an increase in the theft of catalytic converters from underneath vehicles. Thieves are targeting vehicles of all types and sizes.

Catalytic converters are exhaust emission control devices made up of various precious metals, including platinum, palladium, and cadmium. It is these unique metals thieves are targeting.

Thieves are getting underneath vehicles, removing the converter, and potentially causing thousands of dollars of damage.

According to RCMP, Catalytic converter thefts have become a growing problem. Police would like residents to be aware of unusual behaviour in their neighbourhood and report it to the police.
