91 new Omicron COVID-19 cases identified in BC

NORTHERN BC- The province has seen 135 of the Omicron COVID-19 variant of concern cases. The majority of which were identified in the Island Health authority (71), while only one has been reported in Northern Health. Since Tuesday, an additional 91 Omicron cases have been identified in the province.

This comes as 753 new cases were reported in BC today (Thursday), bringing the province’s active case count to 3,878. 45 of BC’s new cases were identified in Northern Health, as the region now has 238 active cases.

From December 8-14, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 46.3% of cases. Meanwhile, from December 1-14, they accounted for 70.2% of hospitalizations.
