2,550 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. over the past three days and three more deaths

VICTORIA — COVID-19 has claimed three more lives in BC, including another resident in the Northern Health region.

It brings BC’s death toll since the pandemic began to 2,402. A total of 2550 new cases of the virus over the past three days, including 81 up north.

* Dec. 17-18: 911 new cases

* Dec. 18-19: 832 new cases

* Dec. 19-20: 807 new cases

There are 5,435 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 220,348 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 185 individuals are in hospital and 77 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

The province will provide an update on cases of the Omicron variant of concern on Tuesday.

As for vaccinations, 87.3% of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 82.6% have received their second dose.

In addition, 91.7% of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 88.8% have received their second dose and 16% have received a third dose.
