PG RCMP investigating after Christmas Day homicide

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is currently investigating an arson that resulted in one death.

On Saturday, December 25, 2021, just before noon, Frontline members from the Prince George RCMP responded to a complaint of a residential fire on the 600 block of Burden Street.

The investigation quickly determined it was the result of arson. This residence and its occupants are well known to the police.

While at the residence Prince George Fire and Rescue Services discovered human remains inside the house. The Prince George RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is currently investigating this matter as a homicide.

Police are confident this was a targeted event and that there is no risk to the public.

“We are saddened that such a tragic loss of life occurred on Christmas Day. Investigators wish to speak with anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around the noon hour on December 25 that relates to this matter. If there is anyone in the area with video surveillance or dashcam footage from between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., please call 250-561-3300 to speak with the police.
