NORTHERN BC- It was a successful year for Crime Stoppers of Northern BC after the service received a near record-breaking 945 tips. Throughout 2021, the organization’s work led to nine arrests and four cases cleared. Additionally, $13,650 worth of drugs were uncovered along with $1,500 in property and $2,930 in cash. Three awards were approved which added up to $430.

This comes as the organization kicks off Crime Stoppers month, which is being nationally recognized as “Stop the Crime of Human Trafficking”. All throughout January, Crime Stoppers will be raising awareness of the crime that targets Canadians from across the country.

Earlier this year, the organization expanded to serving 30 communities, after adding services to Terrace and Kitimat. Crime Stoppers of Northern BC now accepts tips from the Yukon border to Williams Lake and from Terrace to the Alberta border.

The bi-annual “Shred-It” event held in the spring and fall seasons raised over $8,000. The spring 2022 Shred-It event will take place on Saturday, April 23 in the Prince George Secondary School parking lot.
