Northern Health sees 167 new COVID-19 cases

NORTHERN BC- The pandemic continues to intensify across BC. The province is reporting 2,239 new cases of COVID-19 as there are 36,087 active cases. 167 of the new cases were located in the north as the region now has 1,136 active. Across BC, 469 individuals are in hospital and 97 are in ICU.

Three more deaths have been reported, one in Northern Health as BC’s death toll is now 2,449. Meanwhile, 244,551 people who tested positive have recovered.

So far, 26.8% of BC residents 12+ have received a third dose of a vaccine. This comes as 92.2% of eligible residents have received their first dose, and 89.4% have been double vaccinated. Earlier today (Tuesday), the province highlighted the high risk associated with being unvaccinated and developing severe COVID-19 symptoms.
