Cougars sweep weekend set against Giants
PRINCE GEORGE — It was a highlight weekend for the Prince George Cougars in Langley.
On Friday (Jan. 14), a game that was nationally broadcast on TSN, the Cougars rallied from down 2-0 to the Vancouver Giants, to winning 3-2 in overtime. Defenceman Ethan Samson’s second goal, the overtime winner, was a net-front rebound during 3-on-3 played.
The following night on Saturday (Jan. 15), it was the Cougars’ turn to go up by multiple goals, thanks to two from Koehn Ziemmer and another from Samson. The Cougars hung from a 3-0 lead to win 4-2 after captain Jonny Hooker’s empty net goal.
“We found different ways to win this weekend and that is so important for our young group, Cougars Associate Coach Josh Dixon says. “Friday, we battled back to win in overtime, but tonight we had a great start and then had some puck management issues. Vancouver put us on our heels a bit in the back half of the game, but we found a way to survive it. The last two games were certainly different ways to win and that is an encouraging sign.”
