Council approves two-year plan

PRINCE GEORGE – Council has approved the City’s Strategic Plan for the next two years. It identifies a Council vision, things like creating “an environment where employees thrive,” ensuring “infrastructure meets the needs of a growing city,” and providing “a community where people feel safe and included.”

It also provides Administration with direction.

“So the goals that are identified in the strategic plan are very high-level,” explains Walter Babicz, City Manager. “So what [Administration] will do now is take that strategic plan and use that for something we call the corporate work plan.”

The City is about to embark on its budget for the coming year. And while the document is fluid and a new Council could switch things up, Babicz has a cautionary note.

“But hypothetically speaking if Council was to amend that plan, to introduce a new focus area that we haven’t already been working on, theoretically that may result in the need for additional resources and resources are limited.”

Budget discussions get underway next week.
