Flash freeze warning issued for Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE- Temperatures in Prince George and a few surrounding communities are forecasted to drop very quickly today (Monday). This has prompted Environment Canada to issue a flash freeze warning. The warning is also in effect for the Stuart – Nechako, Quesnel, Williams Lake, Highway 16 and 97 areas.
Environment Canada says ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops. It is expected to minus 7 this afternoon, but it could feel a little closer to minus 13 due to the windchill. This comes as an artic cold front passes through the central interior later today. Scattered showers and mild temperatures could change to showers or flurries as the front arrives. This is expected to cause icy and slippery surfaces.
Residents are being warned to take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
