260 new COVID-19 cases in Northern Health

NORTHERN BC- The province is reporting 2,387 new cases of COVID-19 as there are now 35,770 active cases across BC. 260 of the new cases were identified in Northern Health, boosting the regions active case count to 1,504.

13 new deaths have been reported province-wide, none of which were identified in the north. 262,591 people who tested positive have recovered. Meanwhile, 38% (1,644,855) of eligible BC residents have received a third dose of a vaccine.

From January 11-17, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 25.9% of cases and from January 4-17, they accounted for 31.8% of hospitalizations. This comes as 89.3% (4,451,945) of eligible people five and older have received their first dose of a 9 vaccine and 83.4% (4,159,043) have received their second dose.
