Work being put in to get Ernie Sam Memorial Arena ready for weekend’s Winter Classic

FORT ST. JAMES – Organizers and volunteers have been working all week to get the ice in and ready for this weekend’s BC Winter Classic at the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena in Fort St. James.

The Northern Capitals will play a weekend doubleheader against the Fraser Valley Rush. The first game will be played in Vanderhoof on Saturday afternoon and their 2nd annual outdoor game will be played at the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena on Sunday.

For many of this year’s roster, this will be the first time they are participating in the outdoor game, the excitement is already in the air.

Meanwhile, for the Cariboo Cougars, Zach Leslie is the only player who participated in the last Winter Classic in January of 2020.

The Cariboo Cougars will be hosting the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds that weekend, Saturday night puck drop on the Ernie Sam Memorial Arena and Sunday the game will be played in the Fort Forum.
