Last call limit lifted for northern liquor sales

NORTHERN BC- Northern Health is aligning public health orders for Gatherings and Events with COVID-19 restrictions for the rest of BC.

This means the ban on liquor sales past 10:00 pm has been lifted. Additionally, the rules on worship service capacity has been revised. Before the change, worship services and choirs were limited to 50% seated capacity. Now, if all participants are vaccinated as determined by the worship service leader, there are no capacity restrictions on worship services and choirs. If participants are not all vaccinated, worship services and choirs are still limited to 50% seated capacity.

“Some of those extra measures we put in place in response to the Delta variant are not necessary at this point so we can align with the provincial measures,” explained Dr. Jong Kim, Northern Health’s Chief Medical Officer.

Local health officials have assessed the measures and believe this change will help limit the current Omicron driven rates of transmission. Public health are continuing to continue to closely monitor COVID-19 activity and health care system impacts, along with regional immunization coverage rates.
