Northern Health reports an additional 190 COVID-19 cases

NORTHERN BC- The province is reporting 2,364 new cases of COVID-19, 190 of which were identified in the north. Northern Health now makes up for 1,581 of BC’s 33,997 active cases. Currently, 924 COVID-positive individuals are in hospital and 130 are in intensive care.

In the past 24 hours, nine new deaths have been reported, none of which were in the north. The provincial death toll is now 2,529 while 269,137 people who tested positive have recovered.

92.5% of eligible people 12 and older in BC have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 89.8% received their second dose and 37.8% have received a third dose. This comes as not-fully vaccinated people accounted for 27.6% of cases from January 13-19 and 30.9% of hospitalizations from January 6-19.
