Prince George Chamber of Commerce Calls On Council to Find Non-Staff Reductions
PRINCE GEORGE – Some budget feedback Monday night from Prince George Chamber of Commerce CEO, Todd Corrigall, calling on Mayor and Council to find 5% non-staff-related savings in each department.
“Throughout the pandemic, businesses and our community have faced immeasurable challenges. What we are asking City Council to do is nothing that most businesses and households haven’t already done –and that’s find savings where you’ve been told there are none” said Corrigall.During challenging times, we look to our leaders to help chart a path forward. For City Council, this is a watershed moment. The decisions made tomorrow will have significant impacts for many.”
Corrigall, on behalf of chamber members, also took issue with the proposed reductions to the RCMP, while noting Bylaws proposal to increase funding by $800,000.00. With a proposed tax increase of 6.55 percent, everything is under the microscope as budget deliberations continue later today (Wednesday).
