Kitchen Fire on Vanier Drive causes $35 K in damages

PRINCE GEORGE- Prince George Fire Rescue was called to a residential structure fire in the 2500 block of Vanier Drive around 10 last night ( Wednesday ) . Upon arrival , fire crews found smoke coming from the roofline and eaves of a house. An investigation found fire in the basement suite kitchen area extending up into the floor joists above. Crews were quick to extinguish the blaze .

Damage is estimated at approximately $35,000. There were no injuries. The fire is not considered suspicious, but Fire Rescue would like to remind people to use caution while cooking with oil.
