Environmental Impact on Idling your car
PRINCE GEORGE–When the winter months roll around in Northern BC you may think a quick solution is Idling your car to heat up your car and defrost your windows. But what exactly does that do to the environment?
Although he agrees it isn’t the best for the environment, mechanic, and owner of Rivers Edge Services, Bruce Williams says it burns less gas when your car is warming up rather than getting in it while frozen and driving.
However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have an environmental impact. Kim Menounos, Program Manager of the Prince George AIR improvement says if we all waited that extra minute to get warm while driving the impact on climate change and air quality would be monumental.
